Is version I of AAMT BOS too outdated? I'm in school and don't want to spend too much on anything I don't absolutely need right now. Is there a big difference in the second version?

I would say there's not enough difference to make it worth spending $90 or so. When you're out of school and working as an MT, see what your company requires. That's what I would suggest.

There's not much difference in the first and second edition. In other words, I wouldn't put out the extra money unless your company absolutely requires it. The main differences are only about a page long. Everything else is the same. Plus, not all companies go exactly by the BOS. I do QA and use mostly the first edition and I do QA. The changes in the second edition are not enough for me to even mark.

But just in case you want to purchase the book anyway, AAMT is offering its members the newest version of the BOS for only $49. I can't remember how long the sale is, but you can probably check out the AAMT web site for more details.
