I use "Instant Text." I think you can purchase it (without the line counter for less than $100).

Believe me, I don't use it the way it can be used. I use it like a "giant - autocorrect," but I love it. It has definitely increased my production...and I can also say that my hands don't get tired anymore. I have probably cut my typing down 30 to 40% -- I just type along zip zip zip with one shortcut after another....

I would never want to type again without it.....

Thank you for your help. I did not know there were other word expander programs out there.

Now I can check out some other programs to see what they offer. We have Office Depot and a Staples here, so I can probably find the software there.

Thanks

Noreen,

I have a friend who uses Smartype (an older version) and loves it. I've heard good things about Instant Text too.

There are several other expander programs such as PRD (I've used it, like it, but it's too expensive and not worth the extra money compared to Instant Text, etc.

The Instant Text website is www.textwaresolutions.com.

Sylvan also makes an expander product called Abbreviate by Words. I don't know anyone who uses it, though. It's $59.95. Their website is www.sylvansoft.com.

Hope that helps!

I may be wrong, but I doubt Staples or Office Depot would carry much in the way of word expanding software. It is too specialized, and I don't think they would have many customers.....

Your best bet is the Internet -- try Transcriptiongear.com .... I believe they carry "Instant Text" and probably carry some other programs as well.

The reason I got "Instant Text" was because I read a very long article that discussed all the different word expanding programs. This article liked "Instant Text" and liked its price. I thought, "Well, I have to start some place." So, I bought it, and as I said, I have been very happy with it.

Good luck!

This site lists several expanders and gives a bit of information about each, as well as links to the web sites where you can learn more about them and purchase them:

Hi kkb,

Thank you for the websites. I will visit them and see what they offer. This gives me a chance to compare the different programs and prices.

Everyone on this message board is so helpful. It's good to know you can come here when you have a problem and get help.

Thanks a lot.

Hi Carol Jean,

You are probably right about finding this program at Staples or Office Depot. There would not be a market for it there.

Thank you for the web address. I had no idea there were so many programs out there.

Thanks
