Good morning, all - I'm finally going to break down and buy a BOS; I've found one on a message board, well three, really, and they're all 1995 editions - one's still shrink-wrapped. I thought it was strange that the only ones I could find were 1995s - anything wrong with them? I imagine the edition has changed a great deal in 7 years. (?) Any thoughts on the subject are appreciated. Thanks!

Amy,
The reason it is so inexpensive is that the new edition just came out (I got mine last week). It comes with a disk so you can have it on your computer, too!
There are a lot of changes--I've not gone through the whole book yet, but I did notice that the numbers section has changed a lot, which I knew it would because AAMT put out a video on BOS and it had those changes in there at that time (I think it was 3 or 4 years ago).
The new BOS is easier to find things in, too, and it lays flat (the old one doesn't).

Amy,
I wouldn't pay a whole lot for one if I were getting it since the new one is out!!

Thanks, KKB - Amazon had a sale a month or so ago - 20% off books over 40$ - I should've gotten it then but I'm going to wait a while - maybe they'll do it again sometime soon.
Take care! Amy

Amy,
I saw on Amazon.com that you can advance-order it. It's $79 but shipping and handling are free. I only paid $49 for mine because it's at least 1 benefit of membership (have to take them when we can get them).
If you can find the 1st edition cheap that would probably help you, in any case.
Or you can always post here or e-mail me and I can look it up for you!

Hi, If you haven't already bought your book, you should check out the AAMT web site at: http://www.aamt.org/ They have the first editions on sale for $32.00 to both members and non-members. They did have free shipping for it at one point as well if you choose regular shipping. I'm not sure if they still have that option, but It should say on the page. Hope that helps some

KKB and Newbie~
Thanks for your input - what exactly is the "first" edition? Is that the most recent one prior to the newest edition? I'd be happy to pay $32 for one that is pretty UTD and lies flat!

Amy,
The first edition is probably the one you are looking at. The second edition just came out and you won't find it for $32, since it is $49 for members.
The first edition is quite good, but things have changed since it was first printed. It's certainly better than having no definitive source, though.
