I want to purchase an Abbreviations, Acronyms and Symbols book. Can anyone advise which is the best to buy - I know that some people have preferences. The one that comes most to mind is Stedman's 2nd edition. Is there a better one out there with acceptable abbreviations for the majority of institutions. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

I have Jablonski - Dictionary of Medical Acronyms and Abbreviations, which I find is more comprehensive than Neil Davis' Medical Abbreviations (1999 ed) Unfortunately it is also more expensive. The publisher's web site is --
