I have been doing a lot of research and I am getting the impression that the mt field is saturated and by the time I become trained as am mt, technology will reduce the need for even more transcriptionists, I have heard that coding is the big thing, and that not just coding, but the whole health info technology field is what will be needed to get a job. Will someone be really honest with me? Most mt jobs now require 2+ years experience and/or certification and graduation from a formal school in mt. Thanks.

Late reply - I have never noticed the transcription field to be saturated.

For the past several years, we have had to hire inexperienced (very inexperienced) girls and do a lot of on-the-job training.

I am sure that if a good, well-skilled, experienced transcriptionist ever goes out looking for a job, the world will be waiting for them.

And if you're not experienced - you'll probably be one of those that we have to train on the job - then you'll be experienced.....
