Has anyone out there used the Phillips brand of transcribers. I have used these in the past with great satisfaction. I am now going to start working at home. Does anyone have anything negative to say about these machines? The price is mid-range, higher than Panasonic, about equal to Sony, and much less than Dictaphone. Any comments would be appreciated.

We have 2 Philips transcribing machines that we bought used about 6-7 years ago. They are models 510 (mini) and 2505 (standard). These machines are great. They are on all the time and are working hard every day. I understand Philips does not make these now, but if you find a source new or used, I would appreciate being notified or maybe post it in this forum. The only negative thing I would have to say is that the earphones tend to feel a bit heavy after after a few hours of wearing. The foot pedal is fine.

I found a great office supply place ... and thought you would be interested ... The name of the place is Superior Office Systems. They can be reached on line at www. superior office systems. com. I e-mailed them because I had an old Norelco that I needed headphones for.The headphones were not the standard universal kind, so I contacted many office equipment places within my town, only to find out eventually from Superior Office Systems that Phillips bought out Norelco a very long time ago. Therfore, you could only imagine how old the transcriber was. When I e-mailed them, I left my home telephone number and someone got back to me that same day. Rather than sell me the headphones, which they had, and no one else carried, I wound up buying two refurbished machines with a full one-year warranty on both machines for less than $300. The warranty didn't cost anything more, which was an added bonus. I needed to buy both mini and micro-cassette transcribers, as back ups since I had just went out on my own. I was a little hesitant at first about them being "refurbished" but that was a year ago and I never had any trouble with either one of them. When I got the machines, I used them right away to make sure I didn't have any problems with them, and I haven't used any other machine since. Now, both these machines are used on a daily basis and my older machines are my backups.

I did everyhing over the telephone and received the machines within two-three days. This is a great company to deal with. I know if I every need any other office supplies, I wouldn't hesitate to contact them.

I hope this helps.
