I am a Certified Medical Assistant. I recently graduated from an AAS Degree program in medical assisting and have received certification through American Association of Medical Assistants. The program I was in required me to complete a (basic) Medical Transcription course. After working in the medical office for 8 months, I have learned I much rather persue an at home career in medical transcription. This will be very new to me. Prior to the medical assistant position (doing clinical and administrative duties), I worked as a Unit Secretary at Columbia Hospitals. My long term goal is freelance writing. I am very excited about becoming a medical transcriptionist, BUT...I don't know how to start out. The course I took was very basic.
