Can someone please tell me, which is correct and the source of info.

"1 gram of Kefzol was given to the patient"

Hi Gaye,

Use figures in all expressions pertaining to drugs including strength, dosage, and directions. Therefore, 1 gram would be correct.

According to the BOS (Book of Style), should that be gm for gram? Keflex 1 gm. At least, the company I work for follows the BOS...

Sorry - Kefzol not Keflex, but the point was the gm thing...

According to the BOS second edition, g is preferred over gm for gram. I usually write it out so it won't be confused with possibly transposing mg.

Why does BOS say to use g if it is confusing? That is odd, because now that I think about it, it could be confusing. I will write out gram from now on as well...
