I hate to give up my hospital account because I enjoy operatives and probably won't see those for awhile starting as a newbie with MQ. Have a feeling I will be stuck on clinic notes and have to work my way up to something else.

Well, maybe not. Can you indicate that you want/like to do op notes? They probably have a hard time finding people who like them and are capable of doing them because some people want to do the "easy" stuff so they can make more money! Or they probably assume you wouldn't want to do them. You can always inquire!

It wouldn't hurt. I think that some people want the less demanding work, and they would probably like to have someone who was interested in tackling the more demanding work. I know some places start new people off with family practice and then gradually work them up the ladder.

I did drop a note to my recruiter. Will see what he comes up with. I told him I preferred something a little more challenging or a position where I could work up to more challenging work but I would take what I can get at this point. Will see what he comes up with.

I think kkb is right. They probably will be thrilled to know there is someone out there that can do them. Even if it is to fill in for someone. I never did them doing Radiology all these years and tried to do one for a test. Because this company wanted someone to do Ortho and OP notes. I had no problem with the ortho but there was too many drugs and procedures I was not familier with. I told the Company I did not think I would be the best candiate. This is a Company that seeked me out. I think op notes take practice and being at home and no one to ask questions is difficult. I think that is a skill you do not want to loose. Good Luck

Kaplan University Online is the best online school. You can get your degree from home and they have a great MT Associate Degree program, and I think they have a certificate program as well.
