Your boss was out of line, no question. Hopefully your coworkers understood what an insensitive and irrelevant remark she made--she's the one who looked foolish, certainly not you.
Most bosses are not like this--if you get a job working at home you won't hear anything like that since no one knows how you keyboard. However, you will have to get used to taking CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. Some people are good at that; others are not. Some people are good at giving constructive criticism; others are not. Hopefully you won't have someone who does not properly convey constructive criticism. However, you are going to be called on a lot of things when you first start (even experienced MTs face criticism because they might do things differently from what is done at a new job, the company doesn't follow commonly recognized style guides, or even the experienced MT has been doing something incorrectly for years).
The majority of bosses are not like yours, and I hope you get someone who has the heart of a teacher and has the ability to correct people the way he/she would want to be corrected.
