Hi --
EGS, I`m so glad they found your drive.
For all of you, you really should think about backing up your drives to prevent this ever happening to you -- with good backup, you can just ask your computer supplier to do a low-level format on the old drive, which will remove ALL the data so you don`t have to worry about confidentiality.
There are now many affordable and easy-to-use devices for backup (I remember when they were either horribly expensive or horribly clumsy -- trying to stay backed up when I had to use floppies was a nightmare). Here`s the first page of a Google search for hard drive backup --
http://tinyurl.com/796v2tkYou can read about what`s available and how it`s used. You can back up documents, images, programs, and even the operating system if you like. You can schedule times for backups to be done (you do have to remember to leave the computer on at those times). I have a separate drive that`s plugged into a USB port and backs up everything, including the operating system, continuously. It cost less than $100 Cdn., and I don`t have to remember when or how to do it.
When your computer is how you make your living, you have to realize that a drive or a chip can fail at any time, so it`s extremely important to keep everything backed up so that you`ll be ready to get back to work as quickly as possible.
Hope this helps someone!
happy saturday
