I am currently in the last few lessons of the At-Home-Professions course and was wondering if anyone out here graduated from this course and is currently working from home?

I have been trying to research companies that may be hiring and keep finding that they all seem to require experience.

Just curious as to what some of you may know about this.

Thanks,
MaryAnne

MaryAnne, I graduated from AHP the first part of August 2011. I applied diligently to companies on-line that used transcriptionists....I did this for over two months. Most companies do want experience. There are some ads that I have seen that will hire newbies, but I never received an offer to test or interview. There was just one (Medquist) that I tested with. Although I thought I did a very good job, their reply was that I did not match their criteria. Maybe you live in an area that you can get your foot in the door at an office before you work from home. I don't have that option where I live. There aren't any offices that use transcriptionists, I have asked. Don't be discouraged by my experience, I am sure there must be newbies out there that have found jobs.

Hi Carol,
Thank you for taking the time to respond to my post. I am trying not to be discouraged. Especially since AHP seems to focus on doctors with such thick accents that they are nearly impossible to understand. Although I realize this may be part of medical transcription, it has been very frustrating to try to learn formating when you are concentrating on untranscribable speech.
I have to admit that I would feel better if I also heard from someone with a success story but I am trying to keep the faith that this will all have been worth it when I am finished.
Good luck to you!
MaryAnne

I too have felt discouragement. I am working on quiz 31 - and from what I've read - from what I've researched - and from what I've seen commented here - I am thinking all the time I've invested in MT with AHP has been a waste of both time and money!!!
