Capitalize Cardiology (Artie Small), Do not capitalize outpatient clinic (Moses Isaacs), Do not capitalize pathologist (Merryl Thornton).

Daniel Miller: avidly forming

Merryl Thornton: make sure you capitalize Prolene and no comma between the near-far's --- should be near-far-far-near. subcuticular closure followed by Steri-Strips and sterile dressings.

Hope this helps! Take your time on Quiz #30 --- it is the hardest quiz in the course! smile

Is there anyone out there that can tell me IF when one is REALLY working, are we going to have such a HARD time understanding the Doctors or is this course just using Doctors that are so hard to understand to help us with our listening skills? confused
I know we have to learn to listen & understand the foreign Doctors, I just get very frustrated. Hope I am not the only one with this problem. blush

Lakelife,
I personally think that they are putting us in the worst case scenario just to test us. I honestly don't think that most doctors are going to be that difficult to understand, but I could be wrong. Guess we'll have to cross our fingers and hope to find work for doctors who can clearly speak English!! I don't think most doctors are going to be coughing and sniffing and making all sorts of background noises either. I really don't think the formats will be that tough either. I remember reading that most offices stick to one format. What really is confusing me lately are the formats. I try to follow the examples to a "T", but when I get my quizzes back, alot of stuff is marked wrong. Very frustrating!!!

Sorry for the length of time. Took off to babysit the grands in Clemson and just made it back.

It is chart script and no name but diagnosis is nasal lacrimal duct obstruction on the right side.

This is a 71-year-old Japanese female status post acute non-Q-wave MI two months ago,

Anterior mediastinal teratoma with airway obstruction and esophageal obstruction.

Evaluation demonstrated a very large anterior mediastinal mass which on CT scan is causing severe compression of the carina and main-stem bronchi.

The lesion was in the anterior mediastinum, densely adherent to the pericardium.

The tumor was seen to be densely adherent to the anterior pericardium, and a shave biopsy....

Thanks for those GREAT words, I am thinking along the same lines. Let's hope we are both correct. I think they are testing us too, to see how much we want to complete this course. Am sure there are some Drs. that could fall into the "bad" dictation like we are having in this course (bad English, sneezing, coughing, etc.), am really praying that there are MORE that do not. Could handle Drs. like Anne Jones & Robert Snow forever.
Keeping my fingers crossed that I make it through this with a descent grade, find a job that I can work part time from home & for an Anne or Robert type Dr. cool
Am so happy I found this site & that there are such GREAT helpful people out there willing to assist us through it.
Know what you mean about following to a "T", guess it depends on which instructor grades the quiz. I am taking the AHP course and am on lesson 45, starting the quiz tomorrow. Are you taking AHP too, if so where are you?
Good luck & thanks again.

I feel the same way. I follow the rules set forth by the course outline and have gotten 2 quizzes back with lower than expected grades. I just submitted MIQ 24, Reports 11 and hope that my grade is higher. Sometimes, I feel as though the rules change from lesson to lesson.

In regards to the dictation, in previous years, I transcribed for an attorney...it was not NEAR as hard to comprehend.

I'm so glad that I found this site. It's very helpful and good to know that I'm not losing my mind!!!
