Hello and welcome, do you work in an office or have your own transcription home business?

Hi,
Do you have your own business or are you working for a hospital or clinic? Just curious, I am wanting to work at home, for a hospital or clinic, but for some of the posts I am reading here, it does not sound very promising.
Thanks for any help you can supply. confused

I work for Nuance p/t and as an IC part-time from home. This business is definitely changing but I think it can still be done from home. The key is finding a company that hires newbies. Once you gain some experience, you will have more options. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I want to work from home & only part time. I guess I will just have to keep my fingers crossed when I get done with the course.
Where is Nuance based & how does one contact them? Or do you know that they are not hiring part time or at home people?
Thanks

You can try Nuance's website at www.nuance-nts.com/careers.asp. I think that is where you would apply or see what jobs are available. The company I worked for was bought out by Nuance so I really had no choice about going with Nuance. I really liked my original, smaller company but Nuance does have some good things to offer. They pay quarterly QA bonuses, PTO (p/t and f/t), 401K (p/t/ and f/t), and health benefits (which I don't use but I think they offer them to full and part time). As far as I know, they do still provide a computer (CPU only). I hope this helps. You can message me privately if you have more questions. Good luck on your job search. I remember how apprehensive I was about finding work once I graduated. I have worked consistently ever since graduation so I don't think you have to worry. If you do well in your course and are willing to learn and work hard as a newbie for a company, you'll do fine.

Terri,
Thanks for the info & for the encouraging words.
I am retired and this is a new venture for me. I am 66 years old & that is why I am looking for something at home & part time. My husband is still working part time & will for a few years yet, thought this would supplement my Social Security and I do NEED something to do. Just could not handle my previous job anymore, too much backstabbing and politics, etc. So retired June 1, 2010 and started this course on Nov. 1, 2010. Have not been hitting studying too hard since the middle of April, as we go to our lake home at noon on Thursdays & come home Sunday nite. Just closed it up last weekend so will be hitting the books harder again. ENOUGH of that. blush
Thanks again. Sharon
