Is anyone out there doing the Weston Distance learning program (aka At-Home Professions) Medical transcription course?

I took a break for a couple of months because I became so disheartened by the instructor's comments for Quiz 30. I had been getting scores in the 90's for 4 courses, then on the 5th course I had a hard time with that quiz,(foreign accents), and the instructor made me feel like I was useless; I then went and enrolled in the local Vo-Tech for Medical Administration and am getting 97% in Billing and Coding after first 9 weeks and feel more confident to get back into the MT course as I only have 7 lessons to go!

I am looking for either a mentor or a student at the same level to communicate with. I am NOT a needy whiner, but I gotta say my confidence bottomed out after that last quiz! And the instructor emailed back to Brenda instead of Belinda and had the nerve to criticize MY proof reading lol.

I am currently going through the MT course from at-home professions. I had to take a break from studies to care for my mother, and now I'm back on the trail again. So far the course and the materials are very good. They have answered any questions I may have, and they have been very encouraging as well. In a nutshell, so far so good!

I had been enjoying it until the dreaded Quiz 30 combined with instructor Deb's demoralizing comments, but picked myself up, dusted off and headed for the finish line! I am glad you are liking it; what level are you?

I too am on Course 5 and working on Quiz 30 as we speak! I am very nervous about it because I'm having trouble understanding these doctors with strong accents. Can you give any tips on this quiz???

I did take the course and now I'm finished with it. I received my diploma today actually! I was also discouraged with Quiz 30. I received a C on that one and that was the only one, all other tests I received all A's and B's. I'm glad you decided to get yourself back up..you'll be happy when your done. I'm really glad I'm done, now I can't wait to get a job and try it out!

I think that'll be the hardest, finding a job with little experience. Wish you all luck!

Well there are lots of resources and institutes where you can learn or study advance level and beginner level Medical Transcription courses. You can also learn from professional MT forums such as MTGAB.com

I am currently taking the At-Home Professions course and loving it! Working on my final exam now. Quiz 30 was my worst one by far - got an 87 on that one and nothing under 93 on any of the others - it's a killer for sure. I would be happy to help anyone out who is working on the course. Anyone have any advice on the final? There are a few things that have me wondering.....
