I am doing this report and agree, he is very hard to understand. How did you all do on it. I don't have a good feeling about passing this one. UGH!

Listen to the report a couple of times. Trust me, there is ALWAYS a dictator that cannot be heard ESL or not. It takes time to develop the "ear" for them. Nothing like exposure.

Hi annk, this was the first chapter I really bombed out badly on for my first try, but was able to pass it on the second attempt after a call to educational support to get help. I found the tape quality poor on this one, my mistakes were mainly in the wrong word catagory. I guess my ears were in need of a better fine tuning that week...Good luck!

I am so happy for your posts. In regards to this discharge summary, I am struggling with it to no end.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

She had become quite depressed after the death of her husband from my ___("expedient gravis?)... that is what I hear and that can't be right.

She did undergo a second therapeutic paracentesis, at which time, was fully ___("dis") fluid was removed.

I can hear him and understand for the most part, it's just that small percentage - can't hear anything...

Hey Nicole, this one caused me great mental torment, also. Here are some suggestions:

Go on google and put in "my gravis" and see what comes up, it should be a full page of the answer you need.

My advice is on some of these dictations, speeding up the tape helps a lot, it makes the voices clearer and some of the tape noise soften. I went back and listened to this one and when I put it at +7, he is a lot clearer. I find slowing down the tapes drags the words out so long I start hearing extra syllables, conjunctions, etc. Hope that helps!
