This book contains punctuation, grammar, editing, format which is the basic need.It is very friendly in order to make it easy to use and it contains over 500 information-packed pages.

The original post was from 1999. There have been 2 subsequent editions of the AHDI Book of Style. The latest edition, which is the 3rd edition, came out in March of 2008 and costs considerably more than $3.50 (I belive it is $70 plus shipping for non-AHDI members). There have been a lot of changes since the 1st edition came out also. The 3rd edition has a white background--the other 2 earlier editions have blue backgrounds.

The majority of transcription services this use this as their style reference. Any transcription course that doesn't furnish it as part of their curriculum would raise a red flag for me if I was considering it.

I would suggest anyone testing for a service be very familiar with this book.
