Good morning. The doctor I work for likes to use the first names of other doctors he is addressing new patient letters to, as he knows them now for years.

My question is, is it proper for PA-Cs to do the same, even if they know the PA-C or doctor the letters are being addressed to?

How do you all handle this?

I don't personally have a problem with either of them doing it. Obviously it would look more formal if they used Dr., but if that's the way they want it, I would just transcribe it the way they dictated it.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. Thanks for your assistance and answer. I just didn't know if a PA-C using first names was in accordance with the Book of Style or not. I guess that it is just physician/physician assistance personal preference.

Nothing in the Book of Style about that that I've run into. I guess some people are less formal than others and so that must be okay.
