Perhaps this question seems silly (or makes perfect sense)

While I type all day, I *always* am listening to either streaming internet radio or MP3's - I put all my CD's in mp3 format a long time ago. It's just a relaxing nice thing to have in background for me.

Right now, am still working the old archaic micro cassette tapes, but of course looking at equipment and software to make the change.

Does anyone know... since digital dictations would run through the sound card... basically, will have headphones in my ears for working, but will I still be able to run my tunes at the same time?

Anyone else doing digital and like me?

First of all, I can't believe you can perform transcription while listening to music. eek

What's up? Do you use one side of your brain for listening to music and one side for transcribing? (Actually, I think we do??) shocked

Anyway, you may get away with it since your transcribing headphones are plugged into your sound card. If you have another jack somewhere on the front of your PC or MAC, that may work. It's tough to say without knowing the configuration of your computer and how your sound device(s) are configured.

You may want to check some of these forums for more help:

If not, there are quite a few public forums devoted to sound card problems, configurations, trouble-shooting, and so on. Maybe an audiophile, audio-geek (or whatever you call them these days) at one of those forums can better advise you.

I can't imagine being WITHOUT my tunes! I've always been that ambidextrious type though. I've carried on phone conversations while reading and remember both.

A suggestion I got from a 'techno geek', and may consider, is getting an ipod and then ones of those docking type stations with speakers and put all my favorite tunes on that to enjoy. HD has about 3 gig of my favorite music, most which I ripped from my CD's or paid to download - (all music I own is 100% legal)

Next I need to figure out what headphones are used to plug into the sound card. I currently use ones like would be used for an Mp3 player, walkman and such. The goofy looking things that hang below the chin drive me insane. Has to be an over the head model. Suggestions there?
