I am not an MT. But since I technically savvy (a little) a doctor friend of mine asked for a recommendation for a transcription system. He has purchased a recorder (digital, I think) and wants to get the necessary foot pedal and software to work it.

Since I know NOTHING about the whole process, or the hardware/software options, I thought I'd check with the experts - YOU!

If you have specific suggestions, that'll be great. If you can, please also give me your rationale for your recommendations (for or against any system).

I do know that not every digital recorder is right for digital dictation, however. Hopefully your doc got the right one!
