Hi - just wanted to tell someone that today is my daughter's birthday - she would be 6 today. She died on the day she was born and although this day used to be a very difficult one, we're trying hard to make it feel more like a celebration of the brief time we had her with us. She has two little brothers that don't know much about her, so today we'll take down her pictures and show them to the boys so they can begin to understand that she WAS here and she IS part of who we are. Anyway, this isn't intended to bring anyone down - it's special to be able to share her with new friends, and I know that sadly we're not in this boat alone - if someone else has lost someone especially important, I'd love to visit with you or just read about your experience here. Thanks, SOMara, for giving us this message board so we can share this way!

Thanks for sharing your special day with us. I think your boys will grow up knowing who their sister was and will appreciate the significance of the yearly celebration of her birthday.

Sad story - Your "celebration" of your baby's short time with you is an wonderful and uplifting attitude.

I know for sure everyone has lost loved ones, but losing such a young soul is especially difficult.

A few years ago, I lost a nephew (28 years old, married, with two little children). He had a malignant brain tumor. It was very heartbreaking for our whole family.

Again - the way you are handling your loss with your family is a beautiful example for all of us.

Hi Amy
That was a very sad, but beautiful story. Your little girl is truly one of God's "littlest angels". How old are your little boys? I have two grandsons, ages 2 and 4 and they just went home after spending the day with us. What a pair they are!
I know this day must be a difficult one for you and for your family, still, but you have found a lovely way to celebrate your daughter's brief time with you and keep her memory alive in her brother's minds. My prayers are with you.

Bridget - my boys are 2 and 5 and they're wild and crazy one minute and lovey dovey the next. They crack me up! They're pretty good friends, too - how about your grandsons? Is the younger one a spitfire? Mine sure is - his big brother is pretty laid back, but my younger one is definitely a wild boy.

I notice you are logged in at the same time I am - this is kind of fun!

Hi Amy
Yes, I noticed that too. It is really strange isn't it and fun. But, yes, our two grandsons are a pretty busy pair. The 4-year-old is pretty laid back and easy going until the 2-year-old pushes him too far, then watch out, they get into a knock down, roll around fight. The 2-year-old is so funny though. I guess you could say he is at the peak of his "terrible two's" although I tell his father that that period could last for a long time!! Nice talking to you.
