Hi Guys: Have any of your kids, grandkids, nieces or nephews ever said something funny, not intentionally, but their little malapropos actually making more sense then the real word? For instance, a few days ago my two little grandsons were visiting and a big fire truck arrived on our street, sirens blaring and all and stopped just down the street. This was an unusual sight for us so nothing would do but grampy had to take them out and see what was going on. They were so excited!! Soon after, however, my 4-year-old grandson returned looking rather dejected. I asked him what was happening and he said, "It was nothing, nanny. It was just a fool's alarm".

Bridget,
That was a cute one!
I LOVE malapropisms!! Have you ever noticed that some people have a "talent" for them? One of my sons does (he's 13 now). When he was 4 we drove by the Sacred Heart church and he read it as "Scared Heart" church!!
I have an aunt who is notorious for it!! She "renovicates" her house, talks about someone who is "afflicted (affiliated) with the school," and told me that my mom's "high-tail hernia" must be acting up!!
If you go to a search engine and type malapropisms, you will find plenty of sites with them--there are some medical sites too, which are especially humorous!
Thanks for the laugh!

That was a cute one, too, kkb, but when you mentioned your aunt's malapropisms (which I just love also) it reminded me of my dear, late mother-in-law who always referred to "old timer's disease" and having to have a "momma gram". You are right, though, some people have real knacks for them and I just love it. Bridget

My granddaughter was telling me about a wedding she saw. She said, "There was a wedding lady and a man and a 'creature' married them."

Hi everybody Those are all very appropriate and funny malapropisms. However, after I posted the "Mouths of Babes", I admit that I had a "senior" moment when I thought that "mouths" didn't look right. Knowing that "mouths of babes" was a popular saying, I googled it and found this site. It has some really cute things in it. Hope you enjoy them as much as I did. Bridget PS I love this "laughing out loud" graemlin. http://www.humormatters.com/babes.html

Hi, I'm just a new member of MT Gab, so just finding my way around, and enjoyed these "out of the mouths of babes" and had one to share..When my son Stephen was much much younger and coming to church with me, he would listen attentively and try to join in with responses. After a bible passage was read the congregation responded "Thanks be to God" and not sure of what Stephen said asked him. - "Mom, I'm just saying what everyone else is - Thanks, speedy God!"

Hi Alexis That one reminds me of the little boy who used to sing at the top of his lungs, "Great things happen when Jesus misses the bus" , while everybody else was singing, "Great things happen when Jesus mixes with us"! Bridget
