Does anyone off hand know of a way to transcribe using an item such a thumb button or way for listening to dicts w/o using a foot pedal?-- looking for alternative to a foot pedal.

Question is with regard to an incomplete T8 SCI on a friend who wants to get back into transcription but doesn't think the foot pedal will be an option. Would like to help her out if anyone has ideas.

I knew a medical secretary who was a paraplegic and she had a thumb control for her transcriber, so there is probably something out there now that's even better!

Perhaps they sell something like that on this site?

If you click on the links below, you will get to Medword.com's Store section of ergonomic and hands-free devices. There are some really great alternatives to using computer keyboards and foot pedals with types of pointing-devices.

One that may help is the "TrackHat" part of the "smartNAV" hands-free system. Another is a "sip-puff" switch, a program & device that apparently works very well.

Medword.com has had some unsolicited feedback from people who have used these products stating they have been very pleased with them.
